Wind Energy?

Besides the fact that it can't be stored for later usage, what are some drawbacks to the harnessing and use of wind energy?

The drawbacks are that it isn’t appropriate everywhere(Some places are just less windy) and it isn’t constant (the wind comes and goes). However, no technology is appropriate in 100% of cases. We need a mix of energy sources that are each appropriate to the bioregion in which they are being used. The awesome thing about wind power is that the best places for high amounts of constant wind are off shore areas, and the majority of the worlds population lives in costal regions. Wind and tidal energy could provide a signifigant portion of the energy portfolio of this massive wedge of the human population.
No electricity can be "stored" for later use, unless you consider batteries, electrolis into hydrogen, or aquatic gravity pumps. Storage is difficult, but no more or less difficult if the energy comes from wind.
It kills of migratory birds. Birds tend to use the same flight patterm from year to year, then suddenly one year they’re heading south and have to go through wind farms. This is the primary reason most environmentalists are against the use of wind energy.
you can only get it in certain areas of the country… where i live it gets windy but not enough wind for a windmill… besides… you have to power the windmill so if you dont have much wind… it would be pointless
It requires vast acreage of land to install the windmills which could otherwise be used to produce a more efficient and smaller power plant. The windmills can also cause ground shocks to nearby residents, even within the home.
Wind energy is extremely wasteful because it is necessary to have spinning reserves available to immediately replace the power whenever the wind dies down. This means burning gas or coal without producing any power.
Batteries can be used to store eletricity produced by wind generators in a small system, and in a larger system, the grid can either absorb the surplus, or the windgenerators can react immediately to reduce supply into the grid. There are a lot of advantages, and few disadvantages to wind power. Each situation needs to be assessed individually to prevent damage to wildlife or environment.
