I am writing an essay and I need the answer to this question I want to write about it but I want to know the reason why we need renewable energy sources so I can state it in my essay.

Renewable energy are the demand of this age. In past, energy were derived from burning of wood and other biomass sources. And then from coal, natural gas and petroleum products. But as these source of energy unlike wood and biomass products require hundreds and thousands of year to produce, they cannot be replenished and their source is getting depleted at faster rate with rise in population. Thus, energy crisis in future can be predicted even when the world is getting more and more energy dependent if we continue to rely only on the these sources of energy.
Another point is, not every country has got crude oil and coal reserves. Their economy is dependent on other countries as their energy cost can be huge which the other country can manipulate, much like middle east controlling oil – supply and prices which went above $140 per barrel (as of now is above $ 40/barrel). This makes a country less dependent on other country for their energy demand if they can use renewable energy available in their country. Energy from biomass is available everywhere, so is the solar energy(less in high latitude), In the region of higher altitude, wind energy can be harnessed, and energy can be harnessed from ocean, river and other water (larger) bodies and from earth (called Geothermal energy).
Another very important advantage is they are clean source of energy. They don’t cause air pollution either while producing energy from them (like energy from coal) or using them (like using gasoline). With the rise of issue of global warming and cutting out green house gas emission, it becomes more and more increasing important to use them instead of more polluting sources of energy.
Because the energy sources we are using now (coal and oil) are not renewable and are limited.
First of all to cut down on Greenhouse gas, to have cheaper energy, become independent from foreign oil, and some more that I can’t remember.
more environmentally friendly, won’t run out like non renewables, dont contribute to carbon dioxide in atmosphere
if resources arent renewable, then we run out and what do we do when we have nothing left to use for energy. we need renewable resources brcause we are running out of what we have of the non-renewable kind.
its a fun new thing to whine about.
Pretty much the word renewable answers that one. Eventually all oil and natural gas will run out, it shouldn’t happen in our life time, but it will. If we have no other energy alternatives at that time were all screwed. If we didn’t even think about it then when we ran out of energy then we couldn’t even invent new ways.
Basically once it becomes more popular it will be cheaper to set up wind turbines and solar panels will be cheaper. Anyone who uses personal solar panels at there home could completely power there house, and will pay for themselves with free energy
Look up the definition of renewable. Most current sources will run out and many estimates are in the next few generations. So, if you want your grandchildren to be able to travel and have heat finding a renewabel source is a good idea.
Because we can have them for cheap. Hydroelectric is way cheaper than anything else. Wind is good and solar is looking promising. Nuclear is very cheap but regulations make it more expensive. Oil will go up in price so we will use coal where it makes since.
Mobile resources: gas and oil will get more expensive when it does people will but hydrogen cars or such.
Sorry i’m not extreme.
The key word here is renewable. These energy supplies are inexhaustible unlike oil/petroleum based fuels which use up a precious and finite resource very inefficiently.
If you can generate power without damaging the environment, wasting resources, polluting the atmosphere and contributing to green house gasses and global warming, why would you do it any other way?
Energy that is produced from renewable resources is also more socially equitable. Renewables can be made available at a lower cost to more people across a wider range of social circumstances (once a bit more research and development has been done) they are not ‘hoard-able’ by an elite in the same manner as oil is.
And, can you imagine a war being fought over solar access or a windy spot? Sadly, we have recent examples of wars over petroleum and gas resources.
So, there we already have reducing pollution, reducing greenhouse gasses, social equity and reducing the likelihood of war over resources. Obviously you are going to need to research further on each of these, but this should point you in the right direction.
a big percentage of the consumed energy of the world came from fossil fuels… these fossil fuels are limited.. and TOO much consumption of these fuels cause emissions of greenhouse house gases that greatly contribute to global warming.
