At the current moment Wind Energy can’t replace anything. Windfarms produce a fair amount of energy but nothing as great as coal, petroleum, natural gas and such. Maybe when more windfarms are built we might see a more significant change and notice. However there have been complaints about Wind turbines giving people migraines and such. So we’ll see how that goes.
Nothing. Windmills make very very very little energy.
They produce electric energy just like the electric company does from Hydro, Coal, Gas, Oil, Geo, Hydro, etc.
It is just electricity. The only problem is that it, like solar, depends on nature to blow wind at at least 6-8MPH sustained for production. Even in good locations this only happens about 30-40 percent of the time. We must have power 24/7, so the electric company still needs to maintain the normal back-up. This is the primary reason it is more expensive and takes so long, if ever, to get the original investment back.
Don’t get me wrong. I like wind power and it can help reduce fossil fuel usage. I just don’t like it when people have unrealistic expectations from it.
