links and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

http://abcnews.go.com/WN/wind-power-equal-job-power/story?id=9759949
Nearly billion in money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has been spent on wind power, funding the creation of enough new wind farms to power 2.4 million homes over the past year. But the study found that nearly 80 percent of that money has gone to foreign manufacturers of wind turbines.
So Where Are the Green Jobs Obama promised?
Steel Rat - You didn't read the story and what you are whining about is not addressed in this story.
Steel rat - Last time I was in California I literally saw hundreds, possibly thousands of the windmills generating electric.
What you don't see to understand is that my article states that the money spent in the bailout did not create any jobs here in the USA. While we have manufacturers here in the USA, the money was shipped to an overseas manufacturer.
This was not what Obama promised and I am pointing this out.
If a wind farm works, more power too them. But I should not have to subsidize it with tax money. If it stands on its own and it can make money, then that is great. Otherwise don't force me to send tax money to Washington to subsidize a private company.

I have been wondering about the wind power, like windmills lately, here's some other things i wondered
Where is one of the largest wind farms in the world? how many wind turbines are on that largest wind farm?
which country generated the mostwind energy? How much did they generate in 2003?
which country generated 686 megawatts of wind enerrgy?
U.S. wind energy can power how many U.S. homes?

I'm writing a paper on the advantages of wind energy over traditional power generation methods (ie. coal, nuclear, etc.), and I need a section on the history of wind energy. Obviously, this would be windmills. So I ask (since I can't find it anywhere): What was the first known use of windmills, and what was it used for? Please include your sources, and please make them RELIABLE, such as .edu or .gov web addresses, books, etc, as I will be citing these sources in my paper. Thanks!

It is free. We can put a windmill everywhere. And it is better than solar because you can use it night. Name another energy source that is free and does not pollute. The government should give free windmills to everyone.

each person gets a windmill to rent set on their yard for them to use.
the owners of the rental could have the windmills. Also why not have small farms for a small area of town?
I am just trying to get some insite on windmills. I have wanted one for years but my husband said no! Just woundering why everyone could not have one in their yard?

How much energy can be harnessed from this source? What is the efficiency of the windmills? Is it really economically feasible? Considering it costs billions to make those windmills.
Sources to websites are appreciated.

I own five acres of land in a very sunny part of Colorado. The subdivision in which I have the land has no active HOA and there are no covenants that prevent me from putting up as many solar panels and windmills as I can handle. How would I go about selling land for solar or wind power or even getting it going and just getting a check every month?

Whenever I see Obama/ Hillary ads on tv they just show dinky little windmills when mentioning alternative energy.

did vote against 10 pieces of legislation put forward involving alternative energies?
Do you think his ad with windmills is just another phony dog and pony show.

The U.S?
People worrying about the harmful environmental effects of these two power sources along with nuclear power generation, was the reason these types of energy sources were supressed in the first place.
Would Americans trade off the Carbon dioxide emitting fuels for radiation, dead birds, and dead fish?
I'm all for it. I'd love to see our dependence on foreign oil reduced. I'm just wondering if the global warming crowd is going to clash with the Peta crowd.
Please not that a dam made for hydroelectrice power would destroy most species of fish upstream of that dam. This would then have wider effects on the larger ecosystem
In other words, humans will be ok, bears not so much.
And with the slower windmills comes the noise pollution....
Not to mention the number of windmills that would be needed to produce as much power as we use right now would probably cover the U.S.

How much energy could a simple small windmill in my backyard create and how much energy could that save America per year.
I like Matts answer. So 10 million small windmills could take care of the energy needs of almost 2.5 million people?

I live on a farm in NW Indiana. I want lower my energy bill and put up solar panels or windmills. Does Indiana have a program to help walk me through this, and where do I go to get the information?

Truth Seeker- i just asked the Danes. They said how they did it was to punch all of the environmentalist who would try to block power lines from the windmills to the source in the face. We can't do that here. There is more protection for the spotted horney toad than for human fetusus here.

I really have no idea how much windmills cost. I was just curious if there is a site somewhere that has costs to be windmills that are maybe like 500kW, 750kW or 1 megawatt producers of electricity? Does anyone know an approximate price or website with pricing for these?

I'm planning on building a business. What would be the advantage of using solar cells or windmills to produce the power, or at least to keep the cost of electrical power down? The facility will be in the midwest and will be opened year round thru four seasons.

I understand the turbines, what I don't understand is the wind can carry just three blades that look very thin. Why not make very thick blades, and lots of them? Old windmills had three blades (I have no idea why), but they had must thicker blades.
*much thicker

I use green mountain energy co. and they supply renewable energy sources that cut down on pollution, like windmills. Is this considered a tax deduction?
I live in Texas
