other than solar panels and turbines, what are other energy sources? what are the pros and cons to it? THANKS AND 10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER I SWEAR
also, what are the pros and cons to turbines?

I'm talking about the items needed and the required quantiy (height of the turbines, surface of the panels...)

Wind energy has little opposition except for those who claim visual pollution from the turbines and transmission lines and from others who cite loss of habitat and/or wildlife casualties as a concern.
List a concern (there are others) and a possible solution.

What is the average ROI for Wind Farms?

I was curious how profitable a wind farm may actually be in comparison to coal. What is the pay back period, maintenance costs, etc. Assume ideal wind conditions, 30 year life, and industrial size turbines. Also, what is the most efficient spacing? I read somewhere it's 1km.

Thanks :-)

What kind of energy can wind energy replace?

What kind of energy that is harmful to the environment can be replaced by the energy from turbines?
Energy from coal? petrol? natural gas?
thanks

How do wind power windmills work?

I understand the turbines, what I don't understand is the wind can carry just three blades that look very thin. Why not make very thick blades, and lots of them? Old windmills had three blades (I have no idea why), but they had must thicker blades.
*much thicker

As a geography major, I've done extensive research on alternative energy. I have a new idea called "rain power." I think we should instill rooftop generators incorporated into rainwater collection. Rain falls diagonally rather than straight. Therefore, the terminal velocity from the raindrops could spin these turbines and generate electricity. Monsoon Season in Asia would be fantastic for producing it. The same is true regarding hurricane season in the Gulf Coast and rainy season in the Pacific Northwest. What do you think? Do we have the brain power to harness rain power?
