Anything that can be used to make heat or electricity without unsustainable fuels and which does not make a net contribution of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. This includes wind power, waves and the tides, solar energy, geothermal energy and biomass. Nuclear power, although it is low-carbon, cannot be counted as a renewable source of energy because its fuel, uranium, is finite.

Oil is a finite resource and will either run out or not be available in the quantities needed to maintain our economy so any sensible person should realize that now is the time to act.

Onshore oil reserves in the United States peaked in the 1970's, thus our dependence of foreign oil and most of our problems.

Why do they have so much trouble understanding this and why do they think that it is a political and not an economic issue?

Syngas is a by-product of all materials derived from plants, animals,coal, oil or oil based materials, sewage sludge, plastics and synthetic fibers. It can be used as a building block to create other forms of renewable energy using a machine called gasifier. I have searched but I haven't found any article that claims Syngas as another form of alternative/renewable source of energy.

Maybe because 99% of their energy plants are from COAL,OIL and NATURAL GAS.

Do they have to use coal? No

If you had a wind turbine installed on your property, is it possible for that to be your only source of energy? I'm including electricity, water, and heat. I would still have a backup of something, though, just in case.
