Ok,
Were learning about renewable energy in high school, and were now talking about wind energy and turbines and generators and so on and so forth.
Well I was wondering, If you have a small scale wind turbine (fully functional, a little larger than a desk fan) and you had it so that the electricity it made would make a fan (or another electrically powered wind source) turn. If you put that fan in front of the turbine, could it be like never ending?
Or would the generator in the turbine not produce enough electricity to run the fan?

I heard that the output was low, variable and the back up generators were on all the time - hence no reduction in C emissions and an unreliable wind energy input. Was this correct information?

i am looking forward all kinds of generators which can be used in wind turbine(wind farms).
i search about real types and industrial of generators, not mankinds or labratoars ones.
thank you

i just want to know to know is there any other method other than connecting to turbine and generators

im doing a science fair experiment. and its:
Which DC motor works better with Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine?
how can i make a small wind turbine at home that is cheap. and where can i get dc motors/generators to test which works better or puts out more energy.
i need everything to be cheap because is just 8th grade science fair.
please give websites and procedures on how to create the wind turbine.
thank you!!!!
im thinking about changing it.
insteat of horizontal axies, imma do vertical because it seems easier. give me your advice, and where can i find cheap kits?

for my science class exam, I must assemble a portfolio of 4 types of renewable energy technologies, it cannot be solar or wind. I must explain whether the technologies are feasible or not. I must explain the pros & cons of utilizing this type of energy, whether it be environmental, economic, social or political. I can only find wind and solar and we're not allowed to use those. I know of like cranks and generators but I still need more. So can anyone give me any other good ideas for renewable energy technologies?........... I have until friday.

Hello everyone,
I'm studying electricity in school, but I still don't have a firm grasp on electrical power systems and was hoping for some help. I have four main questions. Anyone working in power systems, please share your knowledge!
1. How do each of the various generation schemes (coal / steam turbine, wind farm, nuclear plants, etc) output power at exactly 60Hz? I understand the basics of how a electrical generator works, but I don't understand how they stabilized the output frequency to exactly 60Hz.
2. How do multiple generation points in the system synchronize their outputs to each other? How do all the different power plants and such dump power onto the grid together at the same phase?
3. I guess I don't understand the grid itself overly well. Could anyone explain the concept of the power grid? (for example, is it like multiple net contributors of power (power plants, etc) each acting similiar to batteries in parallel?
4. What happens to excess (unused) power? If a particular system has three 250MW power plants, but the neighborhoods they power only use up 600MW, what happens to the extra unused 150MW? I've heard that people monitor the power input/output and "adjust" the power output from the plants to match the consumers' usage. Is this true, and if so, how is this done? (shutting off generators, running them more slowly, etc). Also, if this is the case, what is done for power generation sources that cannot be human controlled (say, a wind farm; when the wind blows, it turns)?
Thanks in advance.

Air conditioning and other minor car appliances. Could a system similar to a small wind turbine not only power car appliances but create extra vacuum of wind from the turbine blades cooling engine bay or braking systems. However I am not sure if the turbines would cause problems such as A) make the cars engine work harder due to resistance, B) having the technology for the wind turbines/generators made small enough for this application and C) produce enough power to run even small systems like lights, audio systems or air conditioning. Maybe the turbines could work in conjunction with solar roof panels working with the cars alternator. Is this idea flawed, what's your opinion. Cheers John.

for a science project i have to make a wind mill or wind turbine ( a small one no taller than a foot long) and then i have to measure which shape of the blade creates the most amps..how should i connect it to an amp meter and where can i get materials to make one?
how should i get the wind turbine to connect to the generator and the meter..do u know anywhere to buy pre made small windmilll/windturbines to hook up to generators

Okay I was thinking of ways to help with the energy crises and was wondering:
if generators need to spin to make electricity
and when things go fast there's wind,
why not hook a generator to the car (on top many in a box, with two openings on the front and back)and use the wind to spin the generator causing electricity to be made.
So what's wrong with that idea?

What would create more power from wind or water energy? Multiple small generators or one large one?
Also, what determines the output of an electrical generator? Would size or speed of revolutions change the output?

Hello,
I was wondering if one day I wanted to buy good products for generating energy from alternative resources like the Wind power and the Solar power, which companies are the best in supplying those kinds of generators?
I'm not just thinking of small generators for homes, I'm thinking of a bigger level too. Like for big industrial companies or even National level!
Thanks a lot for your expertise exchange

As a geography major, I've done extensive research on alternative energy. I have a new idea called "rain power." I think we should instill rooftop generators incorporated into rainwater collection. Rain falls diagonally rather than straight. Therefore, the terminal velocity from the raindrops could spin these turbines and generate electricity. Monsoon Season in Asia would be fantastic for producing it. The same is true regarding hurricane season in the Gulf Coast and rainy season in the Pacific Northwest. What do you think? Do we have the brain power to harness rain power?
