What are some of examples how wind energy is currently used?
For examples
Windmills
Sailboats
To generate electricity
I need more though, so give me as many as you can think of

I have an essay on what those two states are doing for alternative energy. I have to compare and contrast the different things they are doing for alternative energy. What precautions or developments they are doing for. For instance, are they building windmills for energy or electricity etc. Lots of details or links please!!! Thank you
I've heard about these. Does anyone have one? If so, please tell me how much they cost and how much you pay for electricity each month. Do you need to live in a very windy area or just mildly windy? Do you recomend one?
Do you think it is worth it to use wind power technology to generate electricity if it means we have to "insteall eye sores" that ruin our view of the landscape?
how is wind power produced and how does it work and generate electricity
A windmill, and windfarm, takes energy out of the wind and converts it to electricity. Over time, and after lots of years of windfarms, we could have taken enough energy out the wind that winds would slow down around the planet. What do you think will happen?
(NOTE: back in the 1800's they thought there was infinite coal and oil and never imagined environmental issues with burning it, so this question may be a real problem).
Hi all,
I want to build u an average sized wind turbine generator (about 1 Meter each Wing Size). so that i can get electricity for my home based appliances such as TV, AC, Refrigerators, etc.
What would be the requirements.. so i need to take any statutory approvals / license to do so,, and how to give input to my main Line into the home.
thanks to all in advance
Solar energy doesn't seem to be very practical since there is only an average of 3.5 hours of full sun. There isn't enough wind in my area to produce much electricity. What other options are there?
Also if you design a home that uses wind energy to produce energy. Describe how this energy is produced and how does it act to you. What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Also create a plan for using Wind Energy in your home for electricity or heating in your home.
Can anybody tell me where I can find information about building a continuous feed charcoal kiln. I want to produce about 5 - 10 tons of charcoal per day from available biomass for use as alternative energy source. Also, I would like to use the heat coming off to generate electricity.
I want to build my own windmill for electricity
Well, I don't know much about wind power and I was wondering if I could go completely off the grid with wind power, or do I need to have a backup like solar? How much would it cost to buy a wind turbine and have it installed? Since I'd be making electricity on my own land, would it be free? Can I use wind power for heating my home?
Sorry it's so many questions.
I meant once I install it, would I get electricity free?
Says we could cut foreign oil imports by 20% in ten years.
Produce 20% clean electricity by windpower and use natural gas for fuel for cars that is 98% produced in North America and currently cost 1 dollar a gallon.
Plus unlike any other plan proposed so far it is possible with current technology and cost structures.
If you had a wind turbine installed on your property, is it possible for that to be your only source of energy? I'm including electricity, water, and heat. I would still have a backup of something, though, just in case.
Exactly how much room in the budgets of the elderly and poor and working families does Obama believe is available for electricity that costs a lot of money?
Is it feasible to use these methods to increase gas mileage? For instance, wind power generators placed strategically in or on the vehicle could at least produce enough electricity to power the radio and other devices. Just a thought.
Or, instead of using solar heat, why not use the heat from volcanos, or underground lava streams to create electricity? Would it be possible? I've often wondered this.
Hey everyone. I have this stupid science prject coming up and I am doing it on wind power. I was wondering if someone could tell me that when the blades turn, and generate the electricity, where does the electricity go after it is generated? Thanks. And don't tell me to search it up.
What is the power grid?
Okay I was thinking of ways to help with the energy crises and was wondering:
if generators need to spin to make electricity
and when things go fast there's wind,
why not hook a generator to the car (on top many in a box, with two openings on the front and back)and use the wind to spin the generator causing electricity to be made.
So what's wrong with that idea?
I live in an area where a power company uses wind generators successfully. I'd be looking at about a 1.8 kw generator in an area where electricity is expensive. Initial cost is K. Would I be better off waiting a couple of years for newer, better, cheaper wind generators?
how do we get electricity from renewable energy source?
The total residential usage of electricity per capita in the Fort Collins, CO area is approximately 3.5 mega Watt hours (http://www.larimer.org/compass/electricity_env_use.htm#Chart2). As of 2004, 2.35% of that electricity was being generated through wind energy.
How many joules of energy are used per capita that are generated through non-wind sources?
what are the positives of wind power?
i have got so far that
off shore takes up no land
it can provide 10% of UK's electricity
it is renewable
and it doesnt cause and pollution
how is wind power produced and how does it work and generate electricity
Federal and state taxes on gasoline total between 50 and 75 cents per gallon, depending on what part of the country you are in. The federal tax alone on gas is 18.4 cents per gallon. One can only imagine the total tax revenue the federal government collects on gasoline. The figures don't seem to be available anywhere.
The fact remains, the more gas you burn the more taxes the government collects. With a mounting federal deficit, what would be the motivation for the federal government to push for alternative energy, particularly in transportation?
The government's efforts have been concentrated on alternative fuel to produce electricity. The fuel used to make electricity has no federal tax. But, the electricity you consume is taxed. Go figure.
