The title didn't quite explain it well I think, but what I meant is that what country, in percentage, not production, have the highest percent of electricity produced from renewable energy resources?

Thanks
I was searching about it and I think New Zealand has quite a high one but I just can't quite seem to ensure that... a little hard to search.

Wind Energy Question?

Ok,
Were learning about renewable energy in high school, and were now talking about wind energy and turbines and generators and so on and so forth.
Well I was wondering, If you have a small scale wind turbine (fully functional, a little larger than a desk fan) and you had it so that the electricity it made would make a fan (or another electrically powered wind source) turn. If you put that fan in front of the turbine, could it be like never ending?
Or would the generator in the turbine not produce enough electricity to run the fan?

So I have a science fair project to do and I want to know if there are any websites or people out there who know how to make a small model turbine. it doesn't need to produce electricity i just need something that looks like those wind turbines in the pictures, but just a model of it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Alternative to ugly wind-turbines?

I would love to have a wind turbine in my garden, to generate electricity but I am sure most of you will do to, and the reason you don't have it (and would agree with me) - everything they sell nowadays is big and ugly, especially if your garden is small and you are not allowed to install anything big on your roof.
I wonder why they don't make wind turbines in the shape of anemometer - they would not take too much place, and would look good anywhere.
Or make a sleek wind turbine based on the design of those advertising banners they put outside of the stores- they spin like crazy in the wind.
Do you know any reasons why they don't exist?
Pobept K - I love big industrial ones, they look so beautiful, especially when there are many of them, but if you have a small garden - every small wind turbine is still big for it, and look rediculous there, taking half of it.

I am making a small wind turbine(also known as a windmill) for my schools science fair this is, I have an idea for its design, but i need the basic info. about it first. I need to know the basic componants if possible, and how to build a small one, with about enough electricity to power a lamp or two. If its not to much to ask I would like to know (as basic as possible) how it converts it into electricity. Thanks in advance. All answers are apreciated :)

The annual electrical energy demand is 300,000,000 KWh. Is it possible to build a wind farm that could provide electricity throughout the year? If so, how many wind mills will be required to build the wind farm. Average wind speed is 15 mph. A state-of-the-art windmill has a rotor blade length of 75 m and the practical efficiency of a wind mill is 40%.

...?

Alternative energy is electricity.
Oil isn't.

So how does alternative energy trade off with electricity?
Er, yes, wrong forum...noticed that as I posted it. But answer, please!
l2 read, Hugo.

One of these pieces of legislation is broadly accepted by alternative energy advocates and is considered an industry "Best Practice", the other is considered the greatest barrier to the adoption of alternative energy options and job creation in the country.

A. Legislation that requires a "backfeed prevention circuit" (a type of GFCI) on all Solar Panel and Small Wind installations to prevent the back-feeding of electricity during a power outage which can cause electrical workers to be electrocuted or...

B. Legislation that prevents owners of small wind turbines and solar panel installations from selling electrical power back to utility companies?

(Both of these pieces of legislation were paid for by Utilities Industry Lobbyists, which one do you think is evil)...

You have a power plant that can harness 3 alternative energy resources at the same time and can double more electricity do they have those? How will that work? Please explain to me in full details for a combined Energy Hybrid Power Plant. I wonder how far humans can create.

do taxpayers pay for wind farms?

hi, I'm writing an essay for school on whether South Australia should be using wind farms to generate electricity, and I wanted to know if the money it takes to put up wind turbines comes out of taxpayers pockets?

Help is greatly appreciated,

Chelsea.

please choose an ordinary small wind turbine yourself and tell me the answer.

actually in my project( experiment),
-a wooden box ( 1m X 1m X 1m) is there with a 10 cm (diameter) round hole at the bottom and with a pushable lid, it has springs inside which bring the lid to the original position when force is removed.air will escape form the bottom hole when force is applied on the top.
-1m3 (cube) air escapes through the hole in 2 seconds.
-speed of air is 15 meters per second(nearly)
-in front of the hole , a wind turbine is put which will make electricity when air escapes.

now , i want to know the amount of electricity made in 2 seconds.

please tell me , thanks in advance
i have told that i am not aware of anything else.please choose a turbine generator yourself and tell me the answer.

Building a mini wind turbine?

For a school project, we have to build a very small wind turbine to generate electricity. We were given a generator so all we have to do is construct the blades and the tower from scratch, which I'm not quite sure how. Can anyone give me any ideas or websites that might help?

i am in 8th grade, and i need help figuring out what i should do. i thought about putting "What generates more electricity in the same amount of time, a small wind turbine or a solar panel". The only thing is, i only have a solar panel!

What energy sources (one must be wind) are the most environmentally friendly, but also create enough electricity for a city to use. Please explain why you chose those energy sources. You must chose wind power as one of the sources and you can chose the second source.

I almost bought a wind turbine. I want to be able to harness natural resources and I'm worried about our polluting of the planet.

But.... I'm glad I didn't invest in a turbine.

When I pressed the vendor if he could stand by his claims for the power generation, he went all furtive and withdrew his original offer.

He said I'd get my money back and even be able to sell electricity BACK to the utility companies. Sounds brilliant.

But he couldn't give me a single example of anyone that does this.

In the past, I've bought a couple of solar panels, and neither of them worked.

I do use a wind up radio though.

Can anyone help me? I want a real example of power generation. What's the average power generated by a wind turbine? (I want the real figures, not the idealistic figures)

I looked a Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's river cottage web site, which publishes daily figures for power generation, and the figures don't look too impressive.

I want to build a machine that translates my physical exertions into useful energy. For example. If I could row for an hour, I might be able to turn a drum and get my laundry done.

Or cycle on a stationary bike and use that energy to turn a turbine or grind up all the packaging from my dustbin.

Where do I start looking for equipment?

Thanks

The governator was on Jay Leno and told how they wanted to build a giant solar power setup but treehugging animal lovers blocked them over a mouse that had never been seen in the building area, but could/maybe/possibly be around there somewhere. How about if we take their cars and electricity, make them live like in the 1500's like they want.

I want to purchase a 60K wind turbine and plant it in 29 Palms, CA wind farm. If all the electricity produced is returned to the power company, what would the monthly yield be?

Me and a good friend were thinking of possibly in a couple of years starting a small energy business, but were not sure if we should use solar thermal collectors, solar photovoltaic panels or wind turbines? im pretty sure wind turbines wont be much use because the size required to produce enough electricity. We live in England so are not sure which would be best. which would have the bigger market and would be most needed? any questions just ask.

Thanks allot Nick

Wind Turbine?

I live in a subdivision and previously thought using wind power to generate electricity was reserved for people with more acreage.

I was watching "Living with Ed" on HGTV and I see where he has installed a small, cylindrical wind turbine on the side of his house and I wonder who makes it and where I can get one.

Does anyone know about "subdivision-safe" wind turbines?

Local energy company in maple grove, mn has a windmill that produces electricity. Last night I noticed driving by that it was turning with good force like it was really windy, but there was no wind.

How does energy transfer in wind energy?

I need five different energy transfers in wind turbines. What is the process of it transfering into electricity?

Actually I wanted to know how a country can manage while having 100% electricity support through non-renewable resources of energy.

make the thrust go through a tunnel far enough away from the generating turbines to keep them safe from burning up use the wasted part of the thrust to get electricity each time a cargo rocket ,probe or shuttle takes off . prob run the state of NY for a month geared right ! We have put a man on the moon you know ,surely we can use whats already gonna be there anyway.

topic, im looking to use .5" neodymium magnets to build a low resistance wind turbine, and i dont know how to determine what would be the best size of coil & diameter of wire to generate a given amount of electricity per rotation/etc...

can someone please help me? id be ever so greatful!!
