I've read some of the articles in scientific journals citing huge death tolls from birds flying into wind turbine blades on a daily basis. (And several joggers in my city report being "grossed out" by the number of bird carcasses that litter the running path located near the mayor's favorite "green power generation" project.) But I've never seen any estimated tolls for the entire U.S. and how the death toll would average out for the megawatts generated.

My experience:

Oil and Coal are dirty and too big of a carbon foot print.

Natural Gas, the collection facilities and the pipeline are dangerous.

Nuclear: We no explanation needed

Wind Power: We are getting close, but what about the impact on the birds (no pun intended) and also the the impact on the scenery

Tidal Generation: No good because it will impact our beaches and sea life.

Solar: Scenery issues and it will also attract more heat and raise local temperatures

Hydro: they don't want to give up the land to create enough pressure and then even with fish ways in might impact the wildlife.

Mind you no arguments about putting in shopping plazas and mini-malls that use a lot of power.

To get power there is aa trade-off, why is it the Liberals expect no trade offs but want the use of oil to stop? What is their solution?

Many of the birds are protected species as well but somehow, its ok. Golden Eagles. ,000 fine and up to 5 years in the pen for shooting one but 200 are killed at 1 CA wind farm per year. Where is the EPA on this one?

Oil drillers are fined, wind farms are not. Oil drillers cover their equipment with nets now and have very few bird deaths.

A big concern surrounding wind energy is the safety of birds. Is there a current model that eliminates this problem? If so, is there a version of that model for home use?

Bird strikes on wind turbines are a real occurrence for the super-sized units that utility companies put up, but the birds don't actually get "minced", it's a blunt force trauma. For small scale wind turbines like a homeowner might put up bird-strikes are no more common than birds flying into your window. Some wind turbine owners even put those fake owls on the side of the unit just like some homeowners put those fake owls by their large picture windows.

How is it that Exxon-Mobil only kills 80 birds over a five year period, but windfarms kill 30,000 birds over the same period, when Exxon-Mobil produces such a large amount of energy compared to wind farms.

What will the environmentalist have to complain about if we switch to alternative energy sources? Will they start to "Tax" the wind and sun?

Will they come up with new theories saying wind turbines and solar panels are hogging too much natural resources, which is causing global warming, lol??

What next? They already complain about the turbines killing birds?

why are the environmentalist blocking wind power? in some parts of the usa. You would think they would want wind power everywhere. They say wind power kill birds. those blades move to slow to kill a birds i think. There also blocking solar power in the desert. why?
