From a customer perspective are you more interested in energy conservation or energy production? What alternative energy product would you buy if you had the cash?
These are the current products: http://www.aurorapower.net/products/list/1.aspx
Thanks for your help.

Maybe because 99% of their energy plants are from COAL,OIL and NATURAL GAS.
Do they have to use coal? No
Whether you live in the south or the southwest alternative energy is still a viable source of energy.
Solar, Wind, Geothermal and other alternative sources are available to The Southern Company.
They are BIG OIL. Thats why they dont want to change.
Americans are not stupid.
CHANGE OR YOU WILL BE FORCED TO.
THATS GOES FOR DEMOCRAT/REPUBLICAN/LIB/CON/JACKASS/WHATEVER YOUR NAME IS.

I want to major in a field that will pretty much guarantee me a research and development job in wind energy. I am not interested in any other forms of alternative energy, so a general renewable energy bachelor's won't do. Any help?

I will be answering and asking questions to help create dialogue around this and many other important topics so please add me to your Answers Network so that we can continue this national conversation.

Alternative energy is very expensive. Either companies lose money or they need a massive handout from hard working taxpayers.
When Obama and Dems give money to windmills, that money comes from taxpayers and is no longer available for schools, medicare, or medicaid. Obama could mandate that consumers pay the higher prices when they use electricity, but that would force manufacturers that use a lot of electricity/energy to countries like China where energy is cheap.

I am a high school student and will be taking an independent study course next year. Essentially, I am responsible for designing and carrying out the curriculum throughout the year, with a faculty adviser checking in with me occasionally. I have decided that the subject of my independent study course will be something along the lines of alternative energy or alternative fuels.
Does anybody know of any text books or helpful resources that I could use during my independent study course? I plan to do research, perform labs and experiments, and visit local labs, refineries, and perhaps a power plant. However, a textbook on alternative energy that I could follow would be very helpful. Even better would be a book with labs or experiments in it that I could perform.
If you have any ideas on how I can put together this course and make it the best it can be, let me know! Thanks.

I'm doing a very lengthy report on controversies involving alternative energy; however, I have no idea what to use as evidence against alternative energy. Any ideas or sites where I can find pros AND cons???
I found a few, but I really need a lot; aren't there any sites?

I stumbled upon a site for a renewable energy, alternative energy plant in Ireland, it looked interesting & I was about to read it when I was interrupted. When I came back my wee bundle of joy had Sonic, (the obnoxious rodent) up on the screen & my Ireland article was gone. *so sad* Does anyone know what I was reading or referring to? Sorry my description is so vague.

I'm writing a paper on the benefits of wind and solar energy, in both an economic and social context. Though I appreciate your personal opinion on its benefits, I would REALLY appreciate some possible sources to give me a start on the paper. Please keep in mind that I am not looking for a political discussion or opinions, this is for a graduate-level paper and I am to only write about the benefits of wind and solar energy - so sharing your personal beliefs about the negative effects of alternative energy does not interest me or anyone else and they will be ignored.
Thanks!
