1. How do I set up alternative energy source using thermal energy?
2. What equipment do I need to support a 7000 sq feet of living space?
3. Where do I obtain the equipment and batteries?
4. Where do I obtain the technical know-how?

First you need to measure how much energy you need each month. many sites have calculators for this. Follow the link for a company i am thinking of using for a complete system

this will get you started, you will spend between 15 and 25 thousand to get set up, however i have heard that there is a new solar panel array comming out soon that puts out way more power per panel, so you may want to wait a few years.
Whoa, not very clear of what you want!
Do you need roof solar heat collectors?
Underground heat collectors?
Is it for heat transference, or for electrical power?
SEARCH THE NET!

i would also look at your heating and cooling and maybe look at getting an underground heat exchanger.
maybe moving to a smaller home would save you money
If you are building, you can place PVC pipe under the floor. This acts mostly to cool but can also contribute warmth.
