Wind turns blades connected to the shaft of an electric motor. The spinning shaft creates electricity in the motor. It’s the reverse of a fan, where you supply electricity to a motor and it turns the shaft and blades to make wind. Electric motors can convert electricity to motion, or motion to electricity.
The electricity is created in the motor when spinning magnets move by coils of copper wire. The magnetic fields around the magnets pass through the coils and pull electricity through the coils. The coils are connected to the motors power plug. And again, the opposite way will also work by putting electricity through the coils and making the magnets turn.
