There was more than measure.... whether it was flawwed or not it could have been a huge step in the right direction.

I'm sorry, I'll be more clear. What subsidies does the US Federal Government provide for alternative energy. Not what alternative energy exists.

any ideas?
cheers.

Time is running out for our planet, and if we don't do something, our children are not going to have a home in the future.

Do they mean - like - getting oil from a different corrupt government than the one we're buying it from now?

what kind of energy is produced by wind farms?

If yes then , answer and i will make another post. Follow my Q & A's please.

It seems to myself to be common that when someone opposes the dogma of AGW, or proclaims that the risks presented by elevated atmospheric CO2 are overstated, that the accusation inevitably comes that they are receiving money from 'Big coal, oil or mining'.

Do these people not realize that companies typically have broad portfolios. An energy company is likely to have both renewable and fossil fueled generating assets. For instance in my country of Australia the three major energy companies all have stakes in coal, gas and wind power generation, often with hydro and other renewables tacked on.
By the same token large Oil companies do not solely produce fuel for vehicles, they also produce lubricants and other industrial chemicals which will remain in demand irrelevant of any need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
Same goes for mining companies, renewable energy options still ultimately consume raw resources that come out of the ground, from the aluminium in a wind turbine to the silica in a solar cell.

My question is that why does it seem to be suggested that reducing carbon dioxide emissions is going to be so detrimental to these companies that they would fund online bloggers, when the reality is that these companies still have a huge stake in what is considered the alternative to fossil fuels.
Isn't it far more likely that all that a reduction in the consumption of coal for power generation or oil for transport is simply going to force these companies to change their business model, rather than render them economically inviable?

I'm just wondering how i could create energy and use it on my grid

if alternative energy was really as profitable as the left says wouldn't those evil companies who only care about profit already be investing in it?
your question- companies expand into other areas all the time.

... not worth "energy independence"? Do they figure global warming is a "scam" to make liberals like Al Gore extremely rich?

Keep in mind that Japan is far more dependent on foreign oil than we are since they have few oil wells.

I am working on the design & manufacture of small scale wind turbine. I need help in determining the size of model should i get manufactured for testing in the wind tunnel for its accuracy. What parameters are necessary while scaling down the actual blade design? In other words, what should be the ratio of model size to the internal cross-sectional area of wind tunnel?

Can the USA be an electric car and hydrid/electric car giant, a renewable energy manufacturer giant, a wholesome food giant, and a robotics manufacturer giant. If WE in the USA embraced these new technologies, would our own market and innovation drive these businesses in great part?

I know we have a lot of alternative energy skeptics in here, but the reality is that point-source energy production using a wide array of energy technologies will be the way of the future. Large scale wind and solar operations are technological nightmares and cost-wise gigantic monstrosities, but wide-spread adoption of small scale usage by individual homeowners has gigantic potential. Also, methane re-uptake technologies for commercial farming operations and water treatment facilities are also likely to become significant contributors to our future energy basket.

What is one alternative energy technology that you would take a serious interest in if it were more cost effective. Also, if you invested in some kind of alternative energy technology, how long of a payback period (recouping of costs through savings on utility bills) do you consider to be reasonable? For the sake of this question let's assume the unit you purchase will have a 30 year useful lifespan and your total return on investment would be 30/x, where x is your payback period, suggesting an average payback period of six years would imply a 500% total return on investment.

There are so many excellent renewable energy alternatives to Nuclear and it's imminent dangers, the only ones to really gain are the companies that manufacture Nuclear. We don't need it. Why run the risk, and why subsidize Nuclear? Politics, right?

Seems like this is the case. Why would Republicans act like Renewable Energy is bad? Is it because the Republican Party (and Democrats too) are serving the Petroleum & Nuclear Industries, because those industries are financing their campaigns? Why would you approach renewable energy like it is bad out of some displaced loyalty to your party? Have you ever really investigated RE for yourself?

science project alternative energy source?

i need to make something for a science project that uses an alternative energy source. it has to be under and i cant do pizza box oven, onion ipod charger, or vinegar powered calculator.

Question about contracting on wind farms?

This is a weird one... my boyfriend and I want to move to Ireland (he's from there) and we're looking into jobs for him. He's an electrician, but NOT an electrical engineer. He'd love to get a job working on one of the new wind farms, but all the postings we've seen are for jobs at upper-management level. We figure they're outsourcing the more physical-labor-intensive jobs, but have no idea how to find one of those.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
I should clarify: He's not an engineer and doesn't know the industry. He's an all-around knowledgeable electrician. We're just looking for information on which contracting companies might be doing the labor.

Who supports wind energy?

I want to know anybody that is well know that supports wind energy. Do you have any?

The wind never blew again.
All of the tides stopped.
All of the rivers ran dry.
The Sun burnt out.

Just fast brainstorm without going in detail to much;
-I would look for the most powerful thing around" , which is the sun, those solar flares are like the size of the earth, find a way to make manipulate those flares, so only the density of just a pinhead would have the energy of the sun.And fly us the hell outta here houston

When did wind energy become really popular?

I have searched online and I really can't find much. I know it was used in the early 20th century but I'm curious as to when society really became interested in it and started using it to power cities. (I know they use it a lot in Europe).
Thanks any help is appreciated. I'm working on an essay, I'm not asking you to do my home work but I can't find this & I was hoping someone might be a little more educated in this area? Thanks:)

I plan to pursue Ms in the above from University of Hamburg What job and salary can i expect after this.

plzzzzzzzzzz reply/answer.
