Such as in Massachusetts where I live, we couldnt get wint turbines because it would ruin Kennedy's view of the ocean. And we only got solar panels on the highways when Romney was governor.

I have a debate in class about energy. I need some ideas on both sides.
Why isn't America getting most of its energy from renewable sources? Other countries like Frances use renewables as their chief source. America is quite capable of getting their energy from renewables. What is preventing this from happening?

1. Do you believe the government focuses enough attention on alternative energy?
2. Should the government focus more money and legislation towards improving existing energy sources or alternative energy sources?
3. What do you feel is the biggest concern regarding alternative energy? (Cost/Efficiency/Emissions)
4. Should the government put price limits on gas?
5. Do you believe that alternative fuels would increase the prices of materials used to make them?
6. Do you feel that the government should cut other spending and use more money to research alternative energy sources and fuels?
7. Do you feel that the government should offer tax deductions to businesses that use alternative energy sources and fuels?
8. Should the government mandate that gas stations offer alternative fuels to their customers?
9. What type of home heating do you use?
10. Have you thought of using an alternative form of heating in your home? If so, what?

I've heard on several occasions that wind turbines are not economically feasible because it takes an inordinate amount of time and money, such that it will never produce enough energy to recoup that which was lost in building the turbine. Is this true? Can anyone give me a source?

A star is a massive, luminous ball of plasma that is held together by its own gravity. The nearest star to Earth is the Sun, which is the source of most of the energy on Earth. Other stars are visible in the night sky, when they are not outshone by the Sun. For most of its life, a star shines due to thermonuclear fusion in its core releasing energy that traverses the star's interior and then radiates into outer space. Almost all elements heavier than hydrogen and helium were created by fusion processes in stars.

With the new MARS balloon wind rotar being developed, will it matter what locations wind farms will be in the future? The balloon rotar can reach elevations where the wind jet streames are in any location. Do the wind jet streams very from location to location?

Does anyone know a website or link that can give direct insturctions to building a Horizontal Wind Turbine? Not one of those ones the size of football fields. More like a small model. Yahoo! Answers is my last resort, and I need to type my procedure in for my 9th grade Science Long-Term project by tomorrow!!
Please! I really need help! My partners on the project basically suck...and don't know anything.

As in from windmills/wind farms that capture the wind energy and transform it into electricity... i really really need a source, like a website or article, with it too. thanks!

How employable would someone with a Doctorate in Applied Physics be, in the alternative energy/green technology field?
What kind of jobs would such a person have?

Please Show me in Percents to 100 like 50% of ___ and 50 % of ___.
Also, it would be nice if you told me where you got it from so i can do the bibliography too. Make sure it looks something like a Pie Graph please and thank you!

Came across this interesting article on Tiny Plastic Wind Turbines that can be placed on rooftops and balconies in crowded cities. Cost very little. These turbines generate electricity which gets stored in cells and can be used to power appliances.
Are such products being installed some place?
What are the costs involved? Installation, maintenance?

Or heat exchangers or something like that... anything to take energy out of the air, convert it to something useful, and put back less heat than we took out? (That's the trick, to gather the heat somehow and use it without turning it back into heat in the air)
Uh, no... global warming is caused by too much heat. It's the CO2 that's causing the build-up, but reducing the heat would still reduce the heat, regardless of the CO2 levels. And screw Ted Kennedy... he's no liberal.

a They can partially reduce the need for coal and nuclear power.
b They will never reduce the need for coal or nuclear power.
c They are too expensive to be considered.
d They are still far off because of the technology needs to be developed.
e Until they can supply a large amount of energy, they should not be considered.
