If we gave blood for oil. Wind energy would be more efficient. We need to be thinking green.

Sense the sun, wind, water, electricity, etc is free energy once it's captured, and there are no recurring payments to make, and people have the potential for being "off-the-grid", and they'll be no more refueling your car... how will the Government tax us?
If they don't tax it, where will the money come from to maintain roads, bridges, etc? I would think that they would have to make it up somewhere... right or wrong?

I'm not asking about raw research that occurs at universities - like discovering totally new technologies.
I'm wondering if there are any good reasons to subsidize existing solar, nuclear, wind, etc power companies. By reducing the price of nuclear power below the market equilibrium, people consume more nuclear power than they otherwise would, so there's a deadweight loss.
If you just want to discourage gas consumption, wouldn't a gas/petroleum tax be more efficient? That way private firms can optimally choose between other options.

each person gets a windmill to rent set on their yard for them to use.
the owners of the rental could have the windmills. Also why not have small farms for a small area of town?
I am just trying to get some insite on windmills. I have wanted one for years but my husband said no! Just woundering why everyone could not have one in their yard?

They could have them out in the Gulf of Mexico, instead of the oil platforms that they have now.
@lenny
I guess it could be a 2,000 feet structure with numerous turbines or something.

The company would use grass clippings, compost, and other non-edible plant parts and produce cellulosic ethanol. We would also sell units that run on this fuel. The company would collect the glass clippings, etc sort of like a garbage pick up. Where should I start? Money is not an obstacle.

"Just as table 2 shows, OCT East carried out green design work in 8 aspects, including construction, energy and the use of water resource, etc., as well as completed the characteristic cyclic economic program, which included wind power generation, the use of solar energy, the use of reclaimed water, and artificial wetland, etc. "
i translated a Chinese sentence into this long sentence. do you think it is right? and if so, do you think it is good? thanks.
would someone come and help me? thanks
