could you please tell me the following about wind energy
1. what the source is
2. how is it produced
3. how far away we are from using this source
4. where can it be used
5. why it is a good alternative to current fossil fuels

Well I'm just wondering if wind farms are classed as human activity?
I personanlly think they are but they're kind of built and left aren't they?
Is it still classed as a human ''activity'' then?
I thought I'd check before I write that it's a human activity found on coasts in my homework. XD

ok, so I'm preparing a speech on renewable energy. Primarily solar energy. . . . can anyone give me some facts and figures to incorporate, perhaps some angles I havn't thought of yet? I plan on appealing to the emotional side of saving the environment and the logical side of saving money on your monthly energy bill (it's to be a persuasive speech) . . . so perhaps the efficiency rating of solar panels, or that average energy produced by wind? or even better if someone has some figures on the california rebates given for solar panel installation. Thanks for the assistance

I'm thinking that they help conserve coal.
What else?

I was wondering if anyone had instructions with pictures to build this turbine, i need it for my science fair project so i need it to cost under 30$, I only need it to power the small light bulb.
Thanks!

The total residential usage of electricity per capita in the Fort Collins, CO area is approximately 3.5 mega Watt hours (http://www.larimer.org/compass/electricity_env_use.htm#Chart2). As of 2004, 2.35% of that electricity was being generated through wind energy.
How many joules of energy are used per capita that are generated through non-wind sources?

I need sites or even books that have a lot of detail about alternative energy such as solar, water powered, hydregen, and things like that

And take the fed gas tax and put the entire amount toward research for alternative fuels sources. That way there would be funding for research for renewable energy, and rebates for folks who actually save the environment and use less gas. Currently we have no incentive to save gas, other than the pocket book, and as soon as the price of gas goes below everyone will be buying Hummers again.
When demand goes down, so will the price....

Where can I find small wind turbines used to generate power? I'm looking for some that are between 100 - 200mm.

Pls answer the following questions!
How is it used? Identification of wind power? What countries is it used in? Common characteristics about the countries where wind power is used?
Why is it used?

What do you think will happen once oil and natural gas start becoming really scarce? I read somewhere that the world could survive with 20/30% less energy because so much is wasted but then what? What if the supply decreases by 75%?
Judging by prices alone i would say that current supply is at best "tight" and will slowly decrease worldwide in the years to come.
Will alternative energies, even the ones that supposedly work (and they might not), be at least available when needed?

I know people are opposed to some, but have any projects actually been cancelled purely because locals didn't want them?

I stumbled upon a site for a renewable energy, alternative energy plant in Ireland, it looked interesting & I was about to read it when I was interrupted. When I came back my wee bundle of joy had Sonic, (the obnoxious rodent) up on the screen & my Ireland article was gone. *so sad* Does anyone know what I was reading or referring to? Sorry my description is so vague.

This question is not as stupid as it sounds: it relates to a law I half-remember in Physics, about the preservation of Energy.

I'm writing a paper on the benefits of wind and solar energy, in both an economic and social context. Though I appreciate your personal opinion on its benefits, I would REALLY appreciate some possible sources to give me a start on the paper. Please keep in mind that I am not looking for a political discussion or opinions, this is for a graduate-level paper and I am to only write about the benefits of wind and solar energy - so sharing your personal beliefs about the negative effects of alternative energy does not interest me or anyone else and they will be ignored.
Thanks!

I was asked for a school assignment to choose an informative article on a topic that interests me and answer some questions about it. I picked a National Geographic article called Green Dreams, which is about future forms of renewable energy. go google the article if you don't know what I'm talking about. I'm just trying to make sure that I actually picked an informative article. Thanks!
