i want to become involved in the field of alternative or renewable energy as an engineer when i am older. i am wondering what sort of science and math classes would be most important. also any other class suggestions. and my school offers just about anything you can think of so don't hesitate to offer whatever you think would be best.

UK: I got a letter saying that my electric bill went up due to the raising cost of wholesale oil and gas. But I'm on a renewable energy tarrif. surely gas and oil are'nt renewable energy sources and should'nt affect my bill. I think I'm being lied to or something. screwed maybe?

I am a current college student (Junior) in Austin, Texas and i am presently study Petroleum engineering but i intend to swtitch to Sustainable energy developement for my Masters program. I need people or someone to partner with or who can help me/us get started. I will like to get started as soon as possible rather than wait untill i graduate? I am very into the alternative energy movement and i need peole like myself to work with. For anyone who just want to help by pitching me random ideas here on yahoo,i will send you dollars via PayPal or else contact me direct to discuss the possibility of working together on the project. Please only reply if you are an homeowner!
Besides the initial cost is there anything other reason you wouldn't make the conversion?

Well the question says it all really, thanks x
p.s renewable energy resources are things like solar energy, tidal energy etc.

McCain wants to build buildings for alternative energy, he wants to buy bad loans from the American people
he also supports government intervention, and tax cuts for the wealthy.
Can someone explain to me how he is different then Bush and how is he good for the economy?

If the paint could collect solar energy to charge a battery, and then once the car starts moving, other fibers in the paint could convert the wind passing over the car to electrical energy, wouldn't this be a way to decrease our dependency on fossil fuels. Is there any technology out there that can do such a thing?

Are there any good links that have a directory of alternative energy companies? I know there are many emerging companies across America but are there any sites that have have alot of companies that promote the shift to a green collar economy?

Describe all of the renewable energy alternatives presented in the video.
-What are some challenges with using and managing these alternative, renewable energy resources?
-Name at least one other renewable energy resource not presented in the video.
-Include a response to the following:
Nonrenewable energy resources include coal, oil, and natural gas.
Describe three common challenges with managing nonrenewable energy resources.

A. The wind and sun are not constant, so there would be times when no electricity would be generated.
B. The wind and sun are constant, so there would be plenty of electricity for the home.
C. Wind and solar power are inefficient and too expensive to use and maintain.
D. Wind and solar power are efficient, but they are not able to produce enough electricity for a single home.

I was looking at a wind density map this evening. Am I safe to assume that the DOE #4 rating would be excellent for wind power generation?

soler power for sunny days that would recharge the battery. also wind power that would also recharge the battery. lastly electric power to start it up. tell me if you would find drawbacks to this idea

The city I live in offers renewable energy for a little extra every month and I purchase 100% of my energy this way. Just wondering how many others are doing the same.

Wouldn't it create more jobs and be better for the environment, and also reduce dependency on foreign oil?
What are some reasons why some people are against alternative energy?

they say we have 40 years left in oil but they also warn that the reserves will slow down dramatically way before then, what will you think will happen if we are not prepared or have a viable alternative
ethanol is a joke it is already causing havoc with the price of corn

My family is thinking of using a solar panel and a windmill to power our home. Do you think this would work well in Northern Ohio?

I hear you, you are sick of Al Gore and aren't convinced in the science behind global warming. But would you buy renewable energy anyway, since it pollutes less? Even if it cost a little more? Say extra a month for 200KwH if your Electric Company offered it? It would be nice if congress passed a law that required Electric Companies to offer renewable energy so that at least you would have the option to buy renewable if you wanted to?
